Compliance
Passing inspection the first time
Health-department review of a kitchen floor comes down to three things: whether the surface is smooth, durable, and non-absorbent; whether the floor-to-wall junction is properly coved; and whether the floor drains where it is supposed to. A grout-jointed or worn-coated floor puts all three at risk.
MLSpec documents the assembly — surface, coving height, drain terminations, and transitions — as part of the submittal package, so plan check and the opening inspection see a specified system rather than a product name. Where drainage or grease management is part of the same scope, it is specified alongside the floor rather than after it.
